I don't really like hospitals.
I've been scolded by my tutor, Dr. Kang during the first meeting with him in my first semester, for blatantly stating that. I remember the exact details of the moment because I was practically on the verge of tears when he said, "you probably shouldn't be here". I had just entered my first semester and I was already told to quit by the Assoc. Prof! Can you imagine how that feel? He also nagged on some other things like, "how can you be a teacher when you don't like schools?" Yadayadayada.
Okay, first, when I said I don't like hospitals, that does not mean I can't work in them. I don't like Mouth(refer to one of my old post, too lazy to link), but I still can work with him. I used to hate veggies, then I decided to eat them for my health, and now my meal is never complete without the greens. Got it? There is this thing we called "preference" in life, which is quite troublesome at times but we just have to learn to deal with it.
Second, pharmacists don't only work in hospitals. Duhhhhh. There are tons of other places e.g: community pharmacies, industrial pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies, veterinary, military, academic, health informatics, etc, etc.
Third, do you honestly think all teachers like school?????
Okay, I'm being quite emo-ish.
Sebenarnya nak cerita pasal hospital attachment tadi je. Haha. Since my case was an asthmatic patient, I learned how a nebuliser was administered, saw the patient measuring his peak expiratory flow rate, checked whether he knows how to properly use his inhaler, that sort of stuff. The most interesting thing is..hurm..when the patient on the next bed was having an epileptic fit. Never saw it before.
Oh, there was this one patient who thought we were nurses and went, "Misi! Misi! Sini darah sudah keluar la! Misi!". There was no nurses around so I didn't know what to do. Luckily Mr David went to get one of the nurses, so I told him "sekejap ya pakcik,". There were visitors around at that time and they were looking dengan sangat pelik at me. I was shouting in my head, "Can't you see whats written on the white coat? It's PHARMACY! I'm not the nurse nor a medical student, you can't blame me for not doing anything! Geez!"
I have my reasons for not liking hospitals- fyi, they are of no concern to blood, injections, or the stuff most people find gory or gross. I know I have to work in a hospital and probably will work there for the rest of my life, if that is true then I will just have to deal with it. No sweat.
