Work update: 2nd week

It was a torture. Everyday of the week I kept waiting for the clock to strike 5pm. Store was extremely boring! I was mentally exhausted because the only work I had was to key in data into the system. I was in front of the PC all the time, looking at companies' codes, contracts, etc. When they did not have anything for me to do, I was either asked to read a guidebook on store management, or indent dangerous drugs (DD). They said all the work need to be done by PRP has been completed by previous PRP so there's not much work left for me.

I was hugely stressed out because, you see, I get sleepy quite easily especially when the thing I'm doing does not involve much physical activity. It was really difficult for me to stay awake. I actually "tersengguk" in front of the PC. Luckily I was the only person in the room at that time. I did my best to hold it in - i drank water, i ate mints, even went to the bathroom regularly but it did not exactly work.

It was the same back when I was studying in uni. That's why I sing while I study. To avoid getting sleepy. Either that or i will just sleep, like during the lectures (depends on which lecturer though). But i cant sleep at work, right?

Kehadapan Si Kumbang Kuning,

Masa punch card misalannya. Saya hanya mampu melihat anda dari belakang, pergi bergerak semakin jauh. Lagipun kini, anda bukan lagi pilihan utama saya, kerana pintumu yang hanya dua.

Si Kumbang Kuning, andai kata kita berjumpa lagi, saya harap anda bersabar jika saya berada di hadapan anda, sebagaimana sabarnya saya ketika melihat anda memecut laju meninggalkan saya.

Yang Ikhlas,
Nissan biasa.

Psst: Malaysians should learn to mind their own business. I almost hit the back of a car because it suddenly slowed down to watch another car involved in an accident at the other side of the highway! Dah tahu kat lorong laju, janganlah tiba-tiba suka hati je nak berhenti/perlahan. Kat highway, hujan pulak tu. Memang 1cm lagi je keretaku nak mencium keretamu. Kurangkanlah jaga tepi kain orang unnecessarily.

Kerana aku selalu lupa #10

That which is lawful is plain and that which is unlawful is plain and between the two of them are doubtful matters about which not many people know. Thus he who avoids doubtful matters clears himself in regard to his religion and his honor, but he who falls into doubtful matters falls into that which is unlawful, like the shepherd who pastures around a sanctuary, all but grazing therein. Truly every king has a sanctuary, and truly Allah's sanctuary is His prohibitions. Truly in the body there is a morsel of flesh which, if it be whole, all the body is whole and which, if it be diseased, all of it is diseased. Truly it is the heart.

Work update

Finally the timetable is out! I got OPD this week, Stor is up next, then OPD again, then KK, IPD, TDM and the scariest, CLINICAL! Followed by another OPD, IPD, oncology, manufacture, OPD and lastly IPD. OMG how am I supposed to study for Forensic Exam in March when I got clinical that month? My senior said clinical is definitely the hardest. One senior got sick and had to postpone her clinical rotation halfway, saying that stress maybe one of the factor, imagine that. They warned us to study beforehand and that we will surely be scolded at least 2 times a week when doing clinical. Yes, they said those exact words. To make matters worse, I am the first PRP to start the clinical rotation. Waaaa. Okay lets not panic. Stay calm, Smak.

Anyway, I did 2 counselings today. If you exclude FRP intervention, I actually did only, like, 1/4 of the counseling. Haha. I will fail miserably without FRP's guidance. It's been more than 4 months since I last practice counseling so I don't really remember the steps. And I just learned about Humapen in a brief session yesterday! Tiba-tiba hari ini pulak kena pergi counsel. Sigh. But I'm glad I went to counsel because then only I can learn properly from the FRP. I just hope I can remember the details.

One major problem, I don't have enough time to revise. I reached home around 6, sometimes even later, then I have to mandi, sembahyang, etc. Since I am staying at my dad's, we got to go out for dinner. There is no food in the house. By the time we got back it's already 10. I guess I am easily tired these days because by 10.30 I am already sleepy. At 11pm I usually fell asleep in the middle of texting. I know it is the same situation as most of you but I seriously cant adapt to it yet. I dont know how I managed to stay up until 2am back when I was studying. My knowledge are all rusty that I need to study so that I wont humiliate myself! God help me.

It's time to sleep. Need to wake up extra early as I will gerak from Taiping tomorrow.

Btw, PRP = Provisionally registered pharmacist, such as myself. FRP = fully registered pharmacist.

Toodles.

HBM!

I got Hospital Bukit Mertajam! Hospital Seberang Jaya would be a better choice but HBM is not so bad. Alhamdulillah.

I have to warn you readers: my blog is going to be even more boring for a while since I foresee myself rambling about work in the future. Please be understanding as I just started working so naturally I am all excited/nervous/whiny about it.

Okay so here it goes.

Cool people (except for my cool colleagues/classmates) please stop reading at this moment. If you continue to read on, you may end up losing your cool. Trust me.

My first day ended at 4pm, after a lot of form-filling. A LOT. To future PRPs, do bring extra copies (around 5) of your I/C, offer letter, bank letter and KWSP to speed up the process.

On the morning of our second day we were all asked to help at the express counter at OPD because they still haven't decided on the rotations in different departments. HBM is not as big as HSJ or HPP so the pharmacy in OPD area is relatively small and everything is placed in that small space, so it is quite cramped. There are 6 of us PRPs, all blur and floating around in the small OPD. Sigh. The moment when the prescriptions (Rx) came, it was all chaos! We are new so we are not used to where the different meds are located so yeah, we kind of delay the process. But hey, it is our first time!

The most difficult part would be...to read the doctors handwriting. Haha. Seriously, doctors, can't you put a little bit more effort to make it comprehensible at least? When a FRP showed us a book on medication error I noticed there is one error recorded where chlorpheniramine is given instead of carbamazepine, or the other way around, but it is most probably due to the confusing handwriting. Oh I better get myself familiarize with the common brand names. The procedures are not exactly like what I learnt in uni but PP3 covers it roughly, like don't forget to write the date to come again (TCA) for repeat Rx. I got scolded because of that. Not exactly scolded, hmm, to rephrase: I was corrected strictly. And it did not end there. I did other errors for a few more Rx and got corrected by the FRP in the dispensing area. Yeah, I pretty much sucks. I'm still learning, biasalah.

After a long lunch break (since today is Jumaat), a FRP briefed us further on the work need to be done in OPD. Too much info in a short briefing, and I forgot to bring any notebook. Bijak betul. SPUB, DD, Buku Quota, ME, Extempo, DIS... (I'm writing these down just to recall, you can say WTH and just ignore it). I don't think I can remember all the details. Haiyoh. Anyway, at 4.30pm we went the Stor to meet The Boss, Puan Fauziah. She's nice, but she talks a lot. I think all bosses do, right? That is why we only got to go back at 6.30pm. I'm dead tired despite not doing much work, probably because I did not get enough sleep.

I think that's pretty much it. Actually I can't bebel more since I am feeling a bit drowsy...it's time to sleep. I know this post is at least as boring as my other posts, if not more, but it is helping me to keep track of what I have learnt or done.

Ciao!
[ I dont know why I suddenly write Italian (or is it Spanish?), am I that sleepy?]

Funny after only one day of work when I saw the signboard: Taiping 112 km the first thing that came to mind was Metformin's supply of 112 tabs just now in OPD. Hampeh.

Aidiladha 2011

Kenapa?
Sabda Rasulullah S.A.W:
"Hai Fatimah, berdirilah di sisi korbanmu dan saksikanlah ia, sesungguhnya titisan darahnya yang pertama itu pengampunan bagimu atas dosa-dosamu yang telah lalu". - (al-Bazzar dan Ibnu Hibban)

Lembu ada 4 ekor untuk 4 kumpulan. Tengok list nama dulu.

Bagilah adik pegang camera lagi. Bontot lembu yang menjadi pilihan.

Ni lembu paling gemuk. Serius.

Sekian, tamat aktiviti korban.

Sehari kemudian,

Macamlah tepi pantai kan. Nak minum air kelapalah apa lah.

Yang kurang kufahami sejak bila pulak raya haji orang kumpul duit raya. Sampai hari ni pon budak-budak datang, aku bangun pagi belum mandi pon lagi dah kena layan mereka ini.

Oh aku ingat aku akan takut or kesian tengok lembu kena sembelih tapi tiba-tiba tak takut pon. Kena ingat tujuan mereka disembelih. Oh kalau kesian tak dapat makan pulak tu. Rugi betul. Masa tengok tu aku fikir, susah jugak nak sembelih lembu ni, sampai kena 5-6 orang. Aku serius tak tahu cara mudah nak pastikan lembu tu duduk diam. Paling-paling pon aku terfikir lembu tu masuk dalam bilik sempit jadi dia tak boleh gerak, pastu kepala je keluar. Pastu potong jelah. Dapat bayangkan tak? Tapi sunat membaringkan binatang di rusuk kiri. Err, rasa macam kena pergi slaughterhouse pulak. Baru tau.

Ada banyak hikmah dan fadhilat berkorban ni, tapi tak buat research lagi sebab malas. Lain kali lah.

Oh saja tukar style blogging. No reason. I am random. Haha.

The long-awaited letter has arrived!

Yes, it is confirmed that I have to lapor diri at JKN Pulau Pinang within 30 days from 10th of Nov and "keputusan adalah muktamad". Since I am not familiar with Penang, I googled the 4 possible hospitals that I can get thrown into. Click the picture for a better view.

A is my home sweet home.
B, C, D and E are the choices.

I guess anywhere else other than E is acceptable. E is located on the island, which means higher living cost and annoying traffic jams! The only upside is I can meet up regularly with my doc-to-be friends currently finishing their 5th year in Penang Medical College. Wait, rather than an advantage, the fact that they are still students and already planning strategies to "pow" me should add up more points to B, C and D! Please, oh please anywhere but E. Haha.

Whichever hospital I will be assigned to, InsyaAllah it is for the best, we can plan, but Allah is the Greatest Planner. Have faith. :)

Pakat mai sini~

The list is out. I got Penang! Whoa. I didn't get my first choice; Perak, but Penang is not so bad. Better than Sabah or Serawak. I have to lapor diri to JKN Penang soon after I received the formal letter, by then only I can know which hospital I will be reporting to. Please let it be Seberang Jaya Hospital! Please!!! Pray for me, will you? Thanks!

Nervous as hell. I really really reaaallyyy hate feeling stupid. But I'm absolutely sure I will be scolded a lot because of that when I'm working. It's how they do it in hospitals. Ask anyone - nurses, doctors, pharmacists - they will all nod in agreement.

You can do it Smak! Learn and improve.
InsyaAllah.
