Out, out brief candle!

Death.
An integral part of life. I still remember just a few days back I was in joy with the news of my newborn nephew. Then this came.

A dear friend of mine, S, had just lost her father today. She will be going back to Malaysia tomorrow.

Life and death. Inseparable. 

“To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.” (2:156)

I can't imagine how she feels. I don't dare to even try. 


To S, I know you are strong. Much stronger than anyone I know. I am amazed when you list down the things you have to settle when you got home so that your mother won't have to do the whole thing by herself. Bills, accounts, fidyah, etc...Your parents are so lucky to have you. I don't know if I can ever be as strong and reliable as you. I'm sorry I can't really do anything to help, but you may find this useful: 

“When a person dies, all his deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge (which he has left behind), or a righteous child who will pray for him.” (At Tirmidhi)

Pray for arwah. InsyaAllah, semoga ditempatkan di kalangan orang beriman.


For us whose parents are still living, thank God, jangan lupa doa jugak.

"O Lord, forgive me, my parents and Muslims in the Hereafter. O Lord, show mercy on them as they have nourished me when I was young.

Yes, life's a brief candle. But lets try our best to make the most of it. 

So the man said, “To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return!”

So Al-Fudhayl asked, “Do you know the meaning of that (statement)? You are saying, I belong to Allah as a servant and I am going to return to Him. So whoever knows that he belongs to Allah as a servant and that he will return to him, then he should know that he will be stopped. And whoever knows that he will be stopped, then he should know that he will be questioned. And whoever knows that he will be questioned, then let him prepare an answer for the question.”
