Of Fanaticism

I have never been a fanatic about anything. Seriously. You guys may think I was obsessed with Super Junior or Johnny Depp based on my previous blog posts, but to be frank, I was just...going with the flow. Well, you see, everyone has their own obsession. Generally, guys are obsessed with... bola. Duhh, what else? Oh, hampir terlupa their biggest obsession - perempuan. Correct me if I am wrong, but even a guy friend of mine recently posted this on his facebook status: "Orang super saiya juga ade kelemahan ---> cici.."  and my dear friend Mr M tweeted, "For even the strongest of men, his greatest weakness will be the woman he falls in love with." Oh, we get it. We are irresistible. Hehe. [Some of you may say that this is a weakness rather than obsession but why would a woman be a weakness to a man if he is not preoccupied with her? Boleh kira jugak la kan].


Anyway, that is not my point. What I would like to bebel here is the fact that I don't have any obsession over anything. That Super Junior thing? Yea I know a couple of their songs and some of their dance moves..but what makes me attracted to them in the first place was their reality tv shows which were really funny. Without my Suju-fans housemates, honestly, I won't know anything about them. Like right now, I have no idea what they are doing. Oh wait, I do know they are currently busy with their SS3 concert since I was tagged in a photo on facebook, but I did not feel anything. No jealousy although I did not get to go to their concert. Looks like I am over them. I even unfollow all the Kpop twitter pages I used to follow. I still love watching Korean shows and movies though.


I realize I don't have favourites. Not many, at least. There are very few things/people I can name as my favourites. People should have their personal preference a.k.a most favourite thing, no? Colours, for example. Any colour is fine with me, provided they are mix and match beautifully. Food? Okay this one is better, I think I prefer spicy compared to others. Favourite actor? I don't have one initially, but that would be too boring, so I decided Johnny Depp would be a cool actor to fav. I like Bruce Willis too actually. And Will Smith. And Won Bin, of course. Ice-cream flavour? Chocolate is always good. Vanilla is compulsory. Mint spices things up. All the other common flavours are of equal preference. Song? I love Muse but I am also a fan of Jason Mraz. I listen to coldplay, lifehouse, celine dion, lenka, faizal tahir, yuna, utada hikaru, yadayadayada. But do I know all of their songs? No. I am never a fanatic. 
Geez. I like everything and everyone, ain't I?


People will always ask you what your favourite things are. Because they somehow define your characteristics. "Oh, you like blue? You must be a romantic." "Your favourite time of the day is dawn? Very optimistic, indeed."  That is why having no favourites (or too much) can be very bothersome. 
It can pose a problem to people around you as well. "What should we give Smak for her birthday? Hmm lets just buy a t-shirt of her favourite colour. Errr. What colour? Okay, nevermind, why don't we make her favourite cake. Okay, which cake will that be?" Don't ask me, for even I am not sure of that.
On another note, however, it is easier since I will be okay with almost anything. Quoting my classmate Mcja a.k.a future Dato FK, "Smak ni bagi benda-benda cantik dan pelik je okay dah." If your definition of cantik is the same as mine, then semuanya menjadi mudah kan.
