On a quiet Wednesday

Yes, that is what it is today. Quiet. And sunny. Which led to Smak melayan perasaan sambil memandang keluar tingkap. I seriously am going to miss this place. Despite its crazy weather. I was layan-ing blues (do ignore my ugly bahasa) while looking at this view. I figured you guys will be bored if I took yet another picture from my room's window so I went and took one from the living room instead.

To be frank, I don't miss Malaysia. Kacang lupakan kulit? Lupa diri? Hey I am just telling the truth. The only thing I miss in Malaysia are the food and of course, my family and friends. Home is not where you were born, it is a place where you feel like you belong.
Bak kata Daughtry,
"I am going home, back to the place where I belong, where love has always been enough for me.." (lyrics may not be entirely correct)
I am not saying I feel belonged here, no. Glasgow, really? No thanks. I think this is not a bad place to live in, but as it turned out, I only feel right if I have my loved ones around me. So for the time being, Malaysia it is. Should I get married and have a family of my own in North pole, for instance, then there is my home and I will be Santa's cute(?) neighbour.

I am going to miss my student life for sure. Which is why I try to think positively and enjoy this final year. Reports? Assignment? Journals? Yeay! Lets enjoy completing them while we can. But I can't lie to myself. This is annoying. I know I will miss all these petty things when I start to work but as of this moment, they are all a torture. Which don't seem to end.

Nevertheless, do pray for my success. I want to advance, move up the life ladder..and contribute something to the world. Studying is okay, fun and excruciating at same time, but it feels like I am the only one getting the benefit. Ah well, better get on with my FYP. Berangan je nanti jadi Minah Jenin.

Of Fanaticism

I have never been a fanatic about anything. Seriously. You guys may think I was obsessed with Super Junior or Johnny Depp based on my previous blog posts, but to be frank, I was just...going with the flow. Well, you see, everyone has their own obsession. Generally, guys are obsessed with... bola. Duhh, what else? Oh, hampir terlupa their biggest obsession - perempuan. Correct me if I am wrong, but even a guy friend of mine recently posted this on his facebook status: "Orang super saiya juga ade kelemahan ---> cici.."  and my dear friend Mr M tweeted, "For even the strongest of men, his greatest weakness will be the woman he falls in love with." Oh, we get it. We are irresistible. Hehe. [Some of you may say that this is a weakness rather than obsession but why would a woman be a weakness to a man if he is not preoccupied with her? Boleh kira jugak la kan].

Anyway, that is not my point. What I would like to bebel here is the fact that I don't have any obsession over anything. That Super Junior thing? Yea I know a couple of their songs and some of their dance moves..but what makes me attracted to them in the first place was their reality tv shows which were really funny. Without my Suju-fans housemates, honestly, I won't know anything about them. Like right now, I have no idea what they are doing. Oh wait, I do know they are currently busy with their SS3 concert since I was tagged in a photo on facebook, but I did not feel anything. No jealousy although I did not get to go to their concert. Looks like I am over them. I even unfollow all the Kpop twitter pages I used to follow. I still love watching Korean shows and movies though.

I realize I don't have favourites. Not many, at least. There are very few things/people I can name as my favourites. People should have their personal preference a.k.a most favourite thing, no? Colours, for example. Any colour is fine with me, provided they are mix and match beautifully. Food? Okay this one is better, I think I prefer spicy compared to others. Favourite actor? I don't have one initially, but that would be too boring, so I decided Johnny Depp would be a cool actor to fav. I like Bruce Willis too actually. And Will Smith. And Won Bin, of course. Ice-cream flavour? Chocolate is always good. Vanilla is compulsory. Mint spices things up. All the other common flavours are of equal preference. Song? I love Muse but I am also a fan of Jason Mraz. I listen to coldplay, lifehouse, celine dion, lenka, faizal tahir, yuna, utada hikaru, yadayadayada. But do I know all of their songs? No. I am never a fanatic.
Geez. I like everything and everyone, ain't I?

People will always ask you what your favourite things are. Because they somehow define your characteristics. "Oh, you like blue? You must be a romantic." "Your favourite time of the day is dawn? Very optimistic, indeed."  That is why having no favourites (or too much) can be very bothersome.
It can pose a problem to people around you as well. "What should we give Smak for her birthday? Hmm lets just buy a t-shirt of her favourite colour. Errr. What colour? Okay, nevermind, why don't we make her favourite cake. Okay, which cake will that be?" Don't ask me, for even I am not sure of that.
On another note, however, it is easier since I will be okay with almost anything. Quoting my classmate Mcja a.k.a future Dato FK, "Smak ni bagi benda-benda cantik dan pelik je okay dah." If your definition of cantik is the same as mine, then semuanya menjadi mudah kan.

Clock strikes two. Time to sleep. To be continued (or not)..

Attention deficit disorder

I have only the faintest memory of this "artwork", however this was evidently the result of  my note-taking activity during a Chemistry class in my pre-U time. Uploaded by my dear classmate in INTEC, Nad. She was running through her old stuff recently and stumbled upon this in one of her notebooks.
My character was the girl with mucus hanging from the nose, much like Bo chan from Shin Chan comic. Flu is my arch nemesis, there's nothing I can do about it.

Uh oh I cant recall the name of Chemistry lecturer, was it Ms Lim?

Yes, this is as far as my talent in drawing goes.

Art

Meet Artemisinin, a small Panda with a big heart.

You can call him Art for short.

Name trivia:
Artemisinin is actually the name of an antimalarial drug, or more specifically, a fast-acting blood schizontocide which can pass the blood-brain barrier hence the use to treat cerebral malaria in China. It is a natural product from a Chinese traditional medicinal plant Artemisia annua a.k.a Sweet Wormwood. It has high affinity for haemozoin, therefore it accumulates selectively in the malaria parasite. Under influence of iron, the peroxide bridge in artemisinin breaks down and release the free radicals that are thought to kill the parasite. It can also act by inhibition of cellular Ca++ pump.

Since panda originated from China, the name Artemisinin suits him well, don't you think.

Psst: I have a Biopharmacy 5 test this Monday. Wish me luck!

Our beloved.

"How one man single-handedly, could weld warring tribes and wandering Bedouins into a most powerful and civilized nation in less than two decades." - THOMAS CARLYLE in his HEROES AND HERO-WORSHIP

A well known writer, Rev. Bosworth Smith, in his well known book "Mohammad and Mohammadanism":
"Head of the State as well as of the Church, he was Caesar and Pope in one; but he was Pope without Pope's pretensions, Caesar without the legion of Caesar. Without a standing army, without a body-guard, without a palace, without a fixed revenue, if ever any man had the right to say that he ruled by the right divine, it was Mohammad, for he had all the power without its instructions and without its supports."

Dr Michael H. Hart ranked Mohammed first in the list, who contributed towards the benefit and uplift of mankind:

"My choice of Muhammad to lead the list of the world's most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular levels." (M.H. Hart, THE 100: A RANKING OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSONS IN HISTORY, New York, 1978, p. 33)

Prof K. S. Ramakrishna Rao in his book 'Mohammed: The Prophet of Islam' writes:

"The personality of Muhammad is most difficult to get the whole truth of it. Only a glimpse of him I can catch. What dramatic succession of picturesque scenes? There is Muhammad the Prophet; there is Muhammad the General; Muhammad the King; Muhammad the Warrior; Muhammad the Businessman; Muhammad the Preacher; Muhammad the Philosopher; Muhammad the Statesman; Muhammad the Orator; Muhammad the Reformer; Muhammad the Refuge of Orphans; Muhammad the Protector of Slaves; Muhammad the Emancipator of Women; Muhammad the Judge; Muhammad the Saint... In all these magnificent roles and in all these departments of human activities he is equally a hero."

Considering how deep is his love for us, and that his last words were "Ummati, ummati, ummati (my people, my people, my people)"...the least I can do now is to honour his legacy. May I live up to his expectations and be able to follow his lead. Chaiyok, Smak!
